PRESCHOOL PUPPET SHOWS

 

For many years NZ children’s author and puppet creator Erin Devlin has entertained thousands of kiwi kids with her environmental puppet performances which she has based on some of the popular stories, songs and poems she’s written over the years.

 

During this FUN 35 minute performance Erin and her friend BIG Kiwi (together with a realistic troupe of native birds and wildlife puppets) join with your tamariki and kaiāko in sharing these unique kiwi plays set in our very own native bush…  

 

NOTE:

To warm up before the main acts begin, Erin shares some of her little finger puppets with the audience as they join her in playing and singing along to some familiar nursery rhymes and songs. This fun, relaxed atmosphere sets the mood for even very young children as they settle into and naturally feel part of ‘The Puppet Show’ (This is an opportune time for your teachers to take some photos of the children displaying dickie birds and duckling puppets on their little fingers) [should they wish to].  This intro is promptly followed by the main kiwi themed part of the performance.

 

NOTE:

Erin likes to arrive 15 minutes before the show is due to begin so she can prepare the scene with her unique bush props with native birds and wildlife puppets sitting in the trees. She loves seeing the surprised and excited looks from the children when they enter their ‘story/mat-time’ space to find a bush scene with birds and other bush related characters awaiting them.
